Bikepacking Overnight on my 90's MTB
This used to be my local overnighter route. Sycamore canyon extends from Newbury Park to Sycamore Cove Beach campground. I lived less than two miles from the top of the trail and the campground's hiker/biker sites were my getaway when I needed to be out of service, alone, and in nature.
Filmed in May 2022. I'm really god at starting to film something, and then completely forgetting to end it. I figure instead of this footage living only on my hard drive, I'd upload short videos during the week to get them out into the world.

Wren Perseverance Front Rack & Cage Mounts Install

When I got my 600X I wanted to use a front rack, but had a hard time finding options. Well, Wren, who makes the inverted fork on the 600X makes a rack for their fork. I found no videos about installing this rack, so I decided to film the install process to give others an idea of how it goes together and the level of skill the install takes. How is this compared to your Ride88?!?
To me they serve a different purpose. I like using the ride88 in the winter as I can still take my car through car washes. I love using the Kuat w/ swing arm when I’m on road trips and want the space in my truck for gear. They each have their place 🙌🏼
Working on bikes is way less stressful than working on autos, very much not at all a bad thing cuz I like it it's almost soothing in comparison. I will say you can go down the rabbit hole with parts and that's fine it's cheap.

Did you buy the Piston SR or the Piston Pro?
3:56 Is that tension sound analyzer app free? part of Tenways set up? How often does the belt tension need to be checked or it doesn't loosen?
The app is a feee app from Gates (carbon belt drive). I don't know if checking tension of the belt is in the Tenways setup manual, but having experience with Belt Drive bikes from Priority I knew a check of the tension would be a good thing and help the lifespan of the drivetrain. The bike shipped with a loose belt.

I wanted the most heavy duty rack, for whatever reason. It's good, but I now use the Kuat Piston Pro!

The rack mounts to a special through axle that Old Man Mountain makes! This way you can carry more weight and not worry about putting weight on the screw which is molded into the carbon

Definitely a good trip to the Catalina Island, it is much nicer to see a place from a bicycle ride point of view it is up close and more interesting. Very good video, looking forward to your new adventures in Utah. Cheers.

The bag I have on it is called a Slap Bag! And yes, I connected the front light to the motor with the help of a local bike shop. This way the light never needs to be charged! I bought the 5.0, it has th most power and most range. Very happy with the purchase.

Awesome video! I just got an OP3 recently too. Not filmed with it too much yet. The automatic tracking of the face is a little annoying, hopefully that can be adjusted somehow 🤔
You can turn off the face tracking! It's helpful some times, but I've usually found it quite annoying.
Just discovered this looking for Pocket 3 cycling vids! Love the vid, the positive vibes, and very nice footage! Will be tuning in for more! Side question: do the frame bags hold up okay with bike on the rack at highway speeds?
I used to have a full frame bag too, and it holds up. I've been thinking about getting a topper for the truck because I've noticed the high pressure zone back there just slamming onto the bike. I haven't had any issues yet, and it holds up especially with a half frame bag.

Nice video, Trent. As someone who grew up in Alaska, I can say that the summer is more more glorious when you feel like you earned it by surviving the long winter.
That's how I've been feeling this summer. The duality is a beautiful thing! I love Alaska, I've been twice, Would love to spend more time in that state!
